The University of Siena and Rondine Cittadella della Pace are promoting a Master’s degree in “Conflict management and humanitarian action”, born from the collaboration between the Department of social, political and cognitive sciences and the Association from Arezzo, with the special participation of some members of the international organization Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders).
The Master stems from a previous long-term relation between the University of Siena and Rondine; the educational offer renewed this relation, in order to give a prompt response to contemporary necessities. The new course, in English and one-year long, offers graduated students highly specialized skills, both on a theoretical and practical level, for managing warring areas and post-conflict situations. The focus is on the main global challenges currently faced by the humanitarian sector: from global health to migration, from the management of humanitarian interventions to humanitarian negotiation, until advocacy and communication.
The learning activities are divided in modules and toggle between lectures, workshops, witnesses from professionals and interactive and interdisciplinary ways of debating. The last months of the Master are dedicated to an internship at organizations and institution of the sector in question.
The applicants must have obtained a bachelor’s degree. Applications are open until September the 27th, 2019.
Lessons are going to start in October at the Department of social, political and cognitive sciences of the University of Siena, at the educational center in via Mattioli.
