Rondine d'Oro delivered by the Italian first lady

On Sunday, 13th of May, during the visit of the Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti to the Citadel, also the League of the Rondini d'Oro had an extraordinary moment. Our student from Sierra Leone Veronica was appointed Rondine d'Oro and for the first time the award was delivered by the first lady, Elsa Antonioli Monti.

Veronica, before coming to Italy worked as a High School teacher near Free Town, teaching Religious and Moral Education; she completed her experience at Rondine getting a MA in Human Resources Management at the University of Rome - La Sapienza and she is now ready to go back to her home country.
In her speech she thanked Rondine, assuring that this award is a big honor for her and referring to the responsibility of being a witness of the fact that "dialogue and peaceful coexistence are possible", and to the importance to create a world without stereotypes and animosity.

The students and the guests were moved when she performed a song called God will make a way where there seems to be no way.

The ceremony continued with the candles being blown on the cake celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of Rondine, together with the Prime Minister Mario Monti, the applause and the general commotion.
