We choose young people who reject war to become tomorrow's leaders

'Piazze di maggio 2012', a great success in Prato


"Piazze di maggio” has been successful for this year: a good welcome from Prato, a great relationship between citizens and Rondine during 4th and 5th of May.
Two days full of activities, meetings in order to express the meaning of the square, “An open space to welcome everybody” said the president Franco Vaccari.
On Friday 4th, in the morning, the students of the International Hall of Residence with the staff  met two Prato’s high schools: “Livi” and “Rodari”.
At 20:30 the fund raising dinner at  the Provincial Command of Firemen.
This event has been realized with Diocese of Prato, “Pamat” association, Lions Club Prato Host, Rotary Club Filippo Lippi, association scout 100%: Parents in walk, S. Anne Christian Community and “Jesus Holy worker” Church.
At the dinner participated 250 guests, after this, Akaki and Ruslan received the award of Golden Swallow.
In the same evening, at 21:15, a lot of young people stayed in Saint Mary of Jails to pray.
The next day, on Saturday, has been another meeting in the high school: liceo Copernico.
At 16:00 a concert organized by Youth Pastoral in Saint Francis Square.
In this place Franco Vaccari spoke  with two young students of the International Hall of Residence.
From 17:30 until 19:00 “Wall face” in Duomo square: a lot of people of every age put his photo on the wall in order to promote peace and stop war.
At 18:30 bishop Simoni celebrated the Holy Mass at Saint Mary of Jails.
A wonderful show concluded “Squares of May” :”Dissonances in accord”.
An exciting show made of music, visual art and tales.
Introduced by Tamara (North Ossetian) the students of the International Hall of Residence told their own stories: Elmira (azerbaijani), Sultan ( pakistani), Kameliah (palestinian), Kan (abkhazian).
With them the “ensemble of Rondine” composed by 12 elements played music about war.
During their exhibition a great performance  of visual art realized by “Sashimee production”.
A moment full of silence and emotion has been given through the Liliana Segre’s testimony, an old lady survived at Holocaust. 
At the end Corinna Cerutti sang “Life is beautiful” theme with her wonderful voice.
Rondine is satisfied about the result of the event and it is thinking to “Squares on May” for the next year.
